Congress Announcement

As previously announced, the 2021 Joint Congress of the World Carillon Federation and The Guild of Carillonneurs in North America is being held online this year via Zoom.

Our host (Ellen Dickinson, College Carillonneur, Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut) has planned a full schedule of concerts, presentations, and more for the month of June. While we will miss being together in person, this first ever virtual congress will offer:

  • Performances by 60+ carillonneurs, in 55+ carillon towers
  • Premieres of many new compositions and arrangements for carillon
  • Six new pieces for carillon commissioned by Trinity College for this congress, including new works by: Geert D'hollander, Ellen Dickinson, Liesbeth Janssens, Pamela Ruiter-Feenstra, Naoko Tsujita, and Brandee Younger
  • Recordings of all these new pieces and other music, many of which will be available as an ongoing resource
  • Presentations highlighting the work of the carillon community during the pandemic and beyond
  • Resources for finding and performing diverse and inclusive music
  • A fresh look at programming, based on the theme "Broadening our Repertoire: Carillon Music for Everyone"
  • Opportunities to connect virtually throughout the month of June
  • Flexibility in choosing which congress programs to view, and when to access them, in any time zone
  • Accessibility to attend any or all congress events, with free registration

Thank you to Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut, and to Ellen Dickinson, College Carillonneur, for hosting this virtual congress! We look forward to seeing everyone on Zoom this June, and in person in Chicago (GCNA 2022), and in Utrecht (WCF 2023)!
