Grosse Pointe Memorial Church (PCUSA) is seeking applicants for a Resident Carillonist for the 2024-25 season. This is a part-time position that primarily requires playing the church’s 48-bell carillon before and after morning services twice per month. Grosse Pointe Memorial Church

Resident Carillonist


Purpose: To provide carillon music at GPMC

Supervision: The Resident Carillonist is under the direct supervision of the Minister of Music

Status: Part-time (10 hours per month)

Evaluation: Performance evaluations will be performed by the Minister of Music

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

 Undergraduate degree with music emphasis preferred

 Carillon playing experience and ability

 Ability to communicate and work with diverse personalities and ages

 Understanding and support of the mission of GPMC

Responsibilities:

 Playing the GPMC carillon before and after Sunday morning service twice

per month

 Overseeing and promoting the volunteer carillonneur program

 Private lessons with new carillon students (with additional remuneration)

 Coordinating the summer recital series

 Wedding and memorial services when requested (with additional

remuneration)

 The typical schedule for this position is

o Two Sundays per month 8:30 am – 12:15 pm

o Practice and preparation at the discretion of the employee

Physical Demands:

 Excellent vision and hearing

 Ability to climb stairs (to carillon tower)
