The specific carillon position is here: Apply - Interfolio

The Arthur Satz Department of Music at the University of Rochester invites applications for a highly skilled musician to serve as the first official University of Rochester Carillonneur. This is a full-time position that involves a wide range of activities: teaching carillon students (approximately twenty per semester), offering recitals, performing at occasional university events, supervising maintenance of the Hopeman carillon and two practice carillons, offering guided tours of the Hopeman carillon, and directing all carillon-related activities (including arranging a summer concert series and overseeing the annual Rochester Carillon Composition Award). The University Carillonneur will also help with various administrative duties in the music department especially related to event planning and student engagement. We expect that these duties will generally encompass approximately twenty percent of weekly work (with carillon activities fulfilling roughly eighty percent).

The University Carillonneur will report to the Chair of the Arthur Satz Department of Music. Qualifications include certification as a professional carillonneur, demonstrated virtuosity, excellent communication skills, prior teaching experience, and demonstrated skills in administrative tasks. A Bachelor’s Degree is required.

The University of Rochester recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of our Hopeman Carillon, one of only seven carillons in New York State. The instrument is a set of fifty touch sensitive bells in chromatic sequence played from a baton and pedal keyboard. The bells hang above the crown of Rush Rhees Library, between the top columns of the bell lantern.
