Grants to attend congress

The GCNA holds an annual congress at a different location each year, usually in June, lasting about four days. Congress events include recitals, presentations, workshops, business meetings and social opportunities.

Congress registration fees are typically in the range of $200-250. The GCNA is pleased to offer grants to cover the costs of congress registration fees for the following two groups of members:

1. First-time Congress Attendees

Congress registration grants are available to a person who is:

  1. attending their first GCNA Congress; [only in-person congresses are taken into account for the purposes of this criterion]
  2. a North American resident;
  3. an individual member of the GCNA in good standing; and
  4. not receiving reimbursement for the Congress registration fee from another source (e.g. institution where you work or study).

The congress registration grants for first-time congress attendees are made possible through the generous bequest of the late Sally Slade Warner.

2. New Carillonneur Members

Congress registration grants are available to successful advancement exam candidates to attend Congress in one of the following two years after their advancement, in order to participate in a New Members’ recital.

To be eligible for the grant, the person:

  1. must have passed their advancement exam within the last two years; [see special note below]
  2. must be a North American resident;
  3. must be an individual member of the GCNA in good standing; and
  4. must not be receiving reimbursement for the Congress registration fee from another source (e.g. institution where you work or study).

Note: Due to the cancellation of in-person congresses in 2020 and 2021, the following applies to members who passed their advancement exams in 2018, 2019 and 2020:

  • Members of the class of 2018 are eligible for the grant to attend the 2022 congress.
  • Members of the class of 2019 are eligible for the grant to attend either the 2022 or 2023 congresses.
  • Members of the class of 2020 are eligible for the grant to attend either the 2022 or 2023 congresses.

GRANT APPLICATION PROCEDURE

If you are applying for a grant, please do NOT register for congress until you receive approval for the grant.

To apply for a grant, simply send an email to events@gcna.org, copy and paste the list of criteria for the grant you are applying for, and confirm that you meet each of the 4 criteria. The grant application deadline for 2022 is April 13.

Once your eligibility is verified, you will receive a registration fee waiver code. Use that code to register for congress, and the GCNA will pay your registration fee on your behalf.
