Emily Moody has been the Associate Director of Performing Arts Programming at Longwood Gardens for over seventeen years. She assists with programming performing arts events and oversees the resident instruments including the 62-bell Carillon, Longwood Organ, and Longwood Steinway Grand Piano. She manages a part-time staff of over thirty and oversees the guest experience at performing arts events from set up to execution. At Longwood Gardens, Emily programs all ticketed and free carillon concerts, organ concerts and family programming. Emily created the Longwood Gardens International Organ Competition in 2013 where ten young organists from around the world competed on The Longwood Organ for a $40,000 first prize, the largest cash prize of any organ competition in the world. In 2016, Emily created the Longwood Organ Academy, a week-long residential summer intensive program providing students the opportunity to study organ transcriptions on one of the world’s largest symphonic organs. Emily organizes master classes and oversees the production of all recordings on The Longwood Carillon and Organ. Emily also hosted the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America Congress in 2009 at Longwood Gardens and was in the planning stages for hosting the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America and World Carillon Federation combined congress in 2020. Emily is a past board member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and past Vice President of the board for the Kennett Symphony. Emily is a member of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America, World Carillon Federation, American Guild of Organists, and World Federation of International Music Competitions.
