Summaries of carillons and other tower-bell sites
There are many ways to summarize the available information about
carillons, chimes, and other tower-bell sites.
We present here some simple tables or graphs which show
- for the world, numbers of instruments of
each type for each region or country for which indexes exist
(or will eventualy exist).
This might be consider a "master summary", since it counts everything in the
database which underlies this Website, including many sites for which data pages
have not yet been posted.
- State or province (in North America) vs. size,
for traditional carillons.
This also shows the total number of traditional carillons for each state/province,
totals for the region and for each size group, and some other miscellaneous
facts which can be deduced from the summary table.
- state or province (in North America) vs. size,
for non-traditional carillons.
This also shows the total number of non-traditional carillons for each state/province,
totals for the region and for each size group, and some other miscellaneous
facts which can be deduced from the summary table.
- state or province (in North America) vs. type of instrument.
This also shows the total number of instruments for each state/province,
totals for the region and for each type, and some other miscellaneous
facts which can be deduced from the summary table.
- the distribution by bourdon pitch,
i.e., numbers of instruments which start from a certain note
(regardless of size), for traditional carillons in North America only.
- the distribution of instruments by bourdon pitch vs. number of bells
and by treble pitch vs. number of bells,
for North American traditional carillons,
for North American non-traditional carillons,
and for North American chimes (separately plotted for
baton keyboards and all other actions).
- a summary by decade and founder - the distribution of
North American chime installations according to when they were made and by whom.
- bellfounder's contributions to instruments [PLANNED]
- ? [POSSIBLE]
