Carillons and chimes throughout the world contain bells supplied by a variety of bellfoundries. There is a separate index page for each major bellfoundry, plus one for minor or "miscellaneous" foundries; this page collects together references to work by unknown foundries.

remove any of these entries from "unknown" status,
or promote any from "totally unknown" to "partially unknown",
please do so
by email.
Sites are listed in two groups - first the "worst" unknowns (both maker and date needed),
then the partially unknowns (maker unknown but date is known).
The unknowns are listed in order by city;
the miscellani are listed in order by year of installation (unknown first).
Following the year is an indication of the founder's contribution to the instrument:
trad - carillon with traditional keyboard
trad* - carillon with traditional keyboard now,
but with other mechanism and/or chime size at the date cited
non-trad - carillon with non-traditional mechanism
non-trad* - carillon with non-traditional mechanism now,
but either chime size or with traditional keyboard at the date cited
mech? - carillon with unknown mechanism
chime - chime (any mechanism)
great - great bell (at least 4 tonnes weight), whether or not in a chime or carillon
(...)... - instrument was replaced; link is to the same site
[...] - instrument is defunct; link is to "sites that are no more"
