*Remarks:
Chimola (hemispherical bells), played by automatic drum from tower clock; all made by J.Smith & Sons, Clerkenwell Steam Clock Works, London, England, presumably in 1901 (when the tower was added to the c.1889 building). Chromatic except for lowest one and highest two semitones; two hammers per bell; tenor and treble carry the clock- maker's inscription (undated), with lettering style that indicates Warner made the bells. One original drum remains; a new one was made about 1970 by Horace Abbott when he restored the clock. Park open to town residents only, except with purchase of day pass.
