THE CARILLON

The Class of 1928 Carillon is located in the Jane K. Sather Tower. There are 61 bells, 12 of which were cast by Taylor in 1915, and the rest by Paccard in 1979 and 1983. The bourdon (heaviest) bell weighs 10,580 lbs and sounds G. The carillon is in concert pitch. The North American Standard keyboard was built by Richard Strauss. There are three practice keyboards, by Strauss and Verdin, also North American Standard.
